A TV director (Jonathan Silverman) is coerced into orchestrating a reunion TV special starring his estranged mother (Shirley MacLaine) and her two former costars (Debbie Reynolds, Joan Collins) for the anniversary of their beloved classic film. Unfortunately, years of Hollywood scandals led to petty rivalries and the women can't stand each other. Also appearing (in what ended up being her FINAL role) is Elizabeth Taylor as the ladies' lecherous agent. Taylor was having difficulty walking at the time and his screen-time is minimal -- though she and costar Reynolds get their jabs in at mutual ex Eddie Fisher. The script was co-written by Reynolds' and Fisher's daughter, Carrie Fisher, who appears in a small cameo.
Yes, a beautiful widescreen version of the original TV edit was officially issued in 2009, but THIS long-out-of-print version which was issued on VHS in 2001 includes a variety of extended, condensed and alternate scenes - including a longer version of the song "Boy Crazy," (which opens the film during an exclusive opening credits sequence) and a radically different edit on the scene in the club.
